Medical Care for Prisoners Strictly Compliant with Jail Regulations

Minister Reaffirms Strict Enforcement of Jail Regulations

Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has emphasized that prisoners in Pakistan are treated strictly under jail rules, with all facilities provided in accordance with established procedures. Speaking in the Senate, he clarified that judicial custody operates under a separate legal framework, free from external influence.

The minister assured lawmakers that medical care for inmates is a priority. He explained that urgent medical cases are addressed immediately, regardless of time, and jail authorities are obligated to respond promptly to any prisoner requiring treatment. Regular medical reports are maintained to ensure transparency and accountability.

Food and basic necessities are also provided under standard operating procedures. Dr. Chaudhary highlighted that all arrangements remain within legal limits, with proper documentation maintained for official scrutiny.

He cautioned against politicizing matters related to judicial custody, stressing that the prison system functions transparently under the law and jail manuals. According to him, no compromise is made on prisoners’ rights, and the government ensures that all actions remain aligned with established regulations.

This statement underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining discipline, fairness, and accountability within Pakistan’s prison system, while safeguarding the rights and health of inmates.
