Transforming Healthcare with King Salman Hospital
Islamabad is set to witness a major leap in healthcare with the long-awaited King Salman Hospital project finally moving forward. Federal Minister for National Health Services, Syed Mustafa Kamal, visited the site and confirmed that construction will begin after nearly nine years of delays.
The hospital, initiated in 2017, is being built through a generous grant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To ensure transparency and international standards, the construction will be carried out through a competitive bidding process.
In its first phase, the project will deliver a 200-bed hospital at an estimated cost of PKR 7 billion. Plans are already in place to expand the facility to 600 beds, addressing the growing healthcare needs of Islamabad’s population. The hospital will feature eight major medical specialties, offering comprehensive services to patients.
Residents of Tarlai and nearby areas are expected to benefit significantly from improved access to quality healthcare. The Minister emphasized that this initiative is part of broader government efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s health sector.
Highlighting recent achievements, Kamal noted that 380 hospital beds were added in Islamabad last year, and when including facilities under the Sehat Sahulat Programme, the total increase reached 6,633 beds nationwide. This reflects the government’s commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure.
Beyond healthcare, Kamal also praised Pakistan’s resilience and unity in recent national achievements, linking the hospital project to the country’s broader vision of progress and strength.
With construction finally underway, the King Salman Hospital stands as a symbol of international cooperation and Pakistan’s dedication to modern healthcare. It promises not only to enhance medical services but also to set new standards for transparency and quality in public health projects.
