JPMC’s Patients’ Aid Foundation Leads Lifelong Brain Health Revolution in Pakistan
On World Brain Day (July 22), the Patients’ Aid Foundation at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) reaffirmed its mission to deliver lifelong brain health services to Pakistan’s underserved communities. The foundation is redefining access to neurological, psychiatric, and cancer care—making advanced treatment free and equitable for all.
Unmatched Reach and Impact
In the 2023–24 period, JPMC’s neurology and neurotrauma units, powered by Patients’ Aid, delivered:
- 54,800+ outpatient visits
- 936 plasmapheresis procedures
- 2,848 EEG tests
- 2,173 neurotrauma surgeries
- Care for 82,800+ new patients
These numbers reflect a massive scale of compassionate, high-quality care.
Free Brain Cancer Treatment with Cutting-Edge Technology
Patients’ Aid has installed CyberKnife and TomoTherapy systems—Pakistan’s only facilities offering these treatments entirely free of cost:
- 463 cancer patients received 1,836 CyberKnife sessions
- 329 patients benefited from 7,395 TomoTherapy sessions
This innovation places JPMC at the forefront of non-invasive brain cancer therapy in South Asia.
Expanding Psychiatric Services and Fighting Stigma
The foundation also launched a modern Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences, which treated 20,600+ patients in its first six months. Their work includes:
- Mental health awareness campaigns
- Stigma reduction initiatives
- Expanded psychiatric access for low-income communities
Advanced Diagnostics for All
Patients’ Aid ensures access to world-class diagnostics, including:
- MRI, CT, PET-CT, EEG
- State-of-the-art imaging and testing
- Free services regardless of financial status
Their holistic model supports brain health from childhood through adulthood, making JPMC a beacon of compassionate neurological care.
