Pakistan Launches Modern Clinics for Hajj Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Modern Healthcare for Pakistani Pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah

Pakistan has taken a significant step to ensure the well-being of its citizens during Hajj 2026 by operationalizing 35 modern clinics in Makkah and Madinah. The initiative, announced by DG Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro, is designed to provide comprehensive medical support to the more than 179,000 Pakistani pilgrims expected this year.

The clinics are strategically located to serve pilgrims efficiently. In Makkah, 35 dispensaries have been established, while in Madinah’s Markaziyah area, two dispensaries are operational due to the high mobility of pilgrims in that region. Each clinic is equipped with three to four ambulances available 24/7, ensuring immediate response to emergencies.

Healthcare services go beyond basic treatment. Pilgrims are receiving over 8,000 types of medicines free of charge through outpatient services. Additionally, the clinics’ laboratories are capable of conducting 28 modern diagnostic tests, offering advanced medical care on-site.

DG Hajj Soomro emphasized that the facilities are designed to eliminate health-related challenges during the pilgrimage. “We hope that Hajj pilgrims won’t face any pain during this Hajj and all of their medical needs will be fulfilled from here,” he stated during his visit to one of the clinics in Makkah.

The initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to supporting its pilgrims with state-of-the-art healthcare infrastructure. It also highlights the complex coordination required during Hajj, which involves managing transport, accommodation, and logistics alongside medical services.

As of early May 2026, more than 20,000 Pakistani pilgrims have already arrived in Madinah since pre-Hajj flight operations began on April 18. With the clinics now operational, the government aims to provide seamless healthcare throughout the pilgrimage, ensuring that Pakistani pilgrims can focus on their spiritual journey with peace of mind.

This proactive approach underscores Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding the health of its citizens during one of the most significant religious events in the world.
