Punjab Strengthens Emergency Readiness in Rawalpindi Hospitals
The Punjab government has placed all hospitals in Rawalpindi on high alert, directing administrations to ensure round-the-clock readiness for any emergency. This decision underscores the province’s commitment to strengthening healthcare preparedness in the garrison city.
Medical superintendents have been instructed to guarantee the continuous availability of medicines and supplies. Emergency departments, operation theatres, and radiology units must remain fully functional 24 hours a day to handle trauma and surgical cases without delay.
Hospitals including Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital have been specifically tasked with implementing these directives. Administrations are required to enforce strict duty rosters, ensuring that physicians, surgeons, orthopaedic specialists, nurses, paramedics, and allied staff are present at all times.
Officials emphasized that these measures are not temporary but part of a broader effort to enhance the healthcare system’s capacity to respond to crises. The alert status will remain in place until further notice, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to safeguarding public health.
By mandating comprehensive arrangements across all departments, Punjab’s health authorities aim to ensure that Rawalpindi hospitals are fully equipped to manage emergencies efficiently and provide timely care to patients in need.
