Punjab Allocates Rs309 Million for Hospital Waste Management and Sanitation

Punjab’s Investment in Hospital Cleanliness and Waste Disposal

The Punjab government has released Rs309 million to strengthen hospital waste management and sanitation systems across the province. The funds, allocated by the Punjab Finance Department, will be used to enhance cleanliness protocols and ensure proper disposal of medical waste in public hospitals operating under the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department.

Officials emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader effort to improve patient safety and hospital hygiene standards. By modernizing waste management systems, the government aims to reduce risks of infection, improve environmental health, and create cleaner facilities for patients and staff.

In addition to this allocation, Rs250 million has been earmarked for the establishment of a new children’s hospital in Rawalpindi, further strengthening paediatric healthcare services in the region.

The move reflects Punjab’s growing focus on healthcare infrastructure and sanitation reforms. By prioritizing hospital cleanliness and waste disposal, authorities are working to ensure that medical facilities remain safe, efficient, and capable of delivering quality care to communities across the province.Focus keyphrase
