In a remarkable display of courage and love, a 21-year-old deaf and mute daughter from Balochistan has donated part of her liver to save her father’s life. The transplant, performed at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Sindh, marks Pakistan’s first known case of a hearing and speech-impaired liver donor.

The young donor, Dua Jamali, a 10th-grade student from Chowki Jamali, stepped forward when her father, Mansoor Khan Jamali, was diagnosed with advanced chronic liver disease. His condition had deteriorated to the point where doctors insisted that a transplant was the only option for survival. Despite her disability, Dua volunteered to undergo the rigorous medical testing required to determine compatibility.

After thorough evaluations, doctors confirmed she was a suitable donor. On May 20, 2026, the surgery was successfully carried out. Both father and daughter are now recovering well, with their health reported as stable.

Family members described the moment as deeply emotional, highlighting Dua’s extraordinary sacrifice. Her maternal uncle, Syed Atif Ali, called it an unforgettable act of devotion, proving that love and determination can overcome any barrier.
