Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique recently chaired a critical meeting to review the distribution of free medicines to heart patients in Punjab. Held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, the meeting focused on the timely and effective delivery of these essential medications to patients in need.
Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood, along with Special Secretaries Tariq Mehmood and Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Dr. Waheed Asghar, and other senior health officials, attended the session. The Medical Superintendents and representatives from major cardiology centers, including the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, and Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, joined via video link to discuss operational aspects of the project.
During the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique conducted a detailed review of the existing system that ensures free medication distribution to heart patients. He stressed the importance of accountability and directed all involved parties to maintain a high standard of service. The health minister emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward any inefficiency or delay in delivering medicines to patients, saying, “We will not tolerate even one percent failure in providing free medicines to heart patients across these cardiology hospitals.”
Additionally, he directed TCS, the logistics partner responsible for medicine distribution, to enhance its delivery service and minimize delays. Rafique also highlighted the need for resolving all patient complaints received through the helpline efficiently, ensuring trust and satisfaction among those benefiting from the program.
