Fast-Tracking Lahore’s Cancer Hospital Development
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken decisive steps to accelerate the construction of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore. She directed that work continue in three shifts daily, ensuring the hospital is completed much faster than originally planned.
During her inspection, she reviewed critical departments including radiology, mammography, CT scan, radiotherapy, treatment planning, simulator, and seminar rooms. Her focus was clear—every facility must meet international standards to provide world-class cancer care locally.
Maryam emphasized the importance of appointing highly qualified medical professionals to lead the hospital. Positions such as dean and director will be filled by experts capable of delivering advanced oncology services and ensuring patient trust in the institution.
The hospital’s design reflects patient-centric values, with modern seating arrangements, AHU (Air Handling Unit) rooms, and specialized treatment areas. These features aim to provide comfort, safety, and efficiency for patients undergoing complex cancer therapies.
By fast-tracking construction and prioritizing quality, the project promises to transform healthcare access in Punjab. Patients who previously had to travel abroad or to other cities for specialized cancer treatment will soon find advanced care available in Lahore.
This initiative marks a major leap forward in Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure, combining speed, quality, and international standards to deliver hope and healing to thousands of families.
