Asifa Bhutto Zardari Leads Flood Preparedness Review in Sindh
High-Level Visit to Shaheed Benazirabad First Lady and Member of the National Assembly Asifa Bhutto Zardari, alongside Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, conducted a comprehensive review of flood preparedness efforts in Shaheed Benazirabad. The visit included briefings from senior officials across the Irrigation Department, Rescue 1122, law enforcement, and the Health Department, focusing on contingency plans for potential super flood scenarios.
Communities and Livestock at Risk Authorities reported that up to 80,000 residents across 95 villages in nine union councils could be affected. Additionally, around 64,000 livestock are at risk. Evacuation measures are already underway, with daily monitoring protocols in place to ensure timely response and coordination.
Relief Infrastructure Activated The delegation inspected the deployment of critical relief infrastructure, including:
- 59 relief camps
- 11 medical camps
- Life jackets and rescue boats
- Ambulances and dewatering pumps
- Ventilators and first aid supplies
Vulnerable areas such as Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand, That Saeed Kando, Phullel Khad, Gehram Mari, Bahawal Shah, Mehrabpur Mari, and Morya Lakho were identified as priority zones for intervention.
Unity and Commitment in Crisis Response Asifa Bhutto Zardari praised the dedication of Rescue 1122 teams, health workers, law enforcement, and administrative staff. She emphasized that this is a time for unity—not political division—and urged all stakeholders to intensify relief efforts and maintain teamwork to protect flood-affected families.
