Pakistan and Turkey Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Key Agreements in Health and Pharmaceuticals

Pakistan and Turkey have taken a major step forward in their strategic partnership with the signing of a Joint Declaration at the conclusion of the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Council. The agreement, signed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, aims to deepen, diversify, and institutionalize cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

During this high-profile event, twenty-four agreements, memorandums of understanding (MoUs), and protocols were exchanged, paving the way for stronger collaboration across multiple sectors.

Strengthening Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Cooperation

Among these agreements, a key focus was placed on health and pharmaceuticals, emphasizing the shared commitment of both countries to improving medical research, drug development, and access to quality healthcare. A dedicated MoU in Health and Pharmaceuticals was signed, opening doors for collaboration in medical research, pharmaceutical trade, and the exchange of expertise in healthcare services. This move is expected to boost innovation and improve patient care in both nations.

In addition to healthcare, significant agreements were made in:

  • Defence – Four MoUs to enhance security and defence cooperation.
  • Energy & Mining – Two MoUs and a protocol for power and energy collaboration.
  • Trade & Industry – Three MoUs to promote bilateral trade and industrial partnerships.
  • Water & Agriculture – Two agreements focusing on water resource management and seed production.
  • Education & Training – Two MoUs to strengthen scientific education and technical training.
  • Banking & Finance – Two MoUs to enhance cooperation in the financial sector.
  • Religious & Cultural Ties – Agreements on religious education, Halal food standards, and cultural co-production.
  • Aerospace & Media – MoUs in legal affairs, aerospace collaboration, and media/public relations.

A Milestone for Bilateral Relations

The agreements reflect a shared vision for progress and development, reinforcing the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Turkey. The Pakistan-Turkey Business Forum also played a crucial role, leading to the signing of two additional MoUs aimed at boosting business partnerships.
