Rawalpindi Crackdown: 1,200kg Substandard Meat Seized and Destroyed
Food Safety Drive Intensifies in Rawalpindi
The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has stepped up its campaign against unsafe food practices, with a major operation near Rawalpindi resulting in the seizure of 1,200 kilograms of substandard meat.
The incident took place near Toll Plaza Thalian, where a PFA team intercepted a vehicle transporting meat from Sargodha Jhang Road to Rawalpindi city. Upon inspection, officials discovered that the meat was unhygienic and unfit for consumption.
A veterinary doctor on site confirmed the meat posed serious health risks, declaring it hazardous for human use. In response, police immediately took custody of the consignment and destroyed it on the spot to prevent any chance of it reaching local markets.
Authorities also registered a case and arrested one individual linked to the illegal transport. This decisive action underscores the seriousness of the PFA’s mission to safeguard public health and ensure that only safe, hygienic food reaches consumers.
The PFA spokesperson emphasized that the authority’s ongoing crackdown on substandard food items will be intensified further, targeting not just meat but all unsafe consumables being circulated in Punjab.
This operation serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety awareness in Pakistan, where authorities continue to battle against unhygienic practices that threaten community health. Consumers are urged to remain vigilant and support initiatives that prioritize safe, quality food.
By destroying unsafe meat and holding violators accountable, the Punjab Food Authority reinforces its commitment to protecting citizens from harmful food products and ensuring a healthier future for Rawalpindi and beyond.
