Enhanced Healthcare for Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
Pakistan’s government has stepped up its support for citizens performing Hajj this year by expanding medical and technical staff in Saudi Arabia. With more than 56,000 Pakistani pilgrims already in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) announced that staff numbers have increased from 438 to 467.
In addition to medical teams, 1,259 support staff and assistants have been deployed to guide and serve pilgrims throughout their journey. This expansion ensures that healthcare and logistical needs are met as the pilgrimage gathers pace.
According to MoRA, 80 percent of Pakistani pilgrims are currently in Makkah, while the remaining 20 percent are in Madinah. To accommodate the growing influx, the number of buses in Makkah has also been increased, making transportation smoother and more efficient.
Pakistan is one of the largest contributors of pilgrims to Hajj, with over 179,000 expected to travel this year under both government and private schemes. The country’s pre-Hajj flight operation will continue uninterrupted until May 21, ensuring that pilgrims arrive on schedule for the sacred rituals.
The pilgrimage itself is expected to take place in the last week of May 2026, and authorities are working to guarantee that all participants receive proper medical care, guidance, and logistical support.
This proactive approach highlights Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of its citizens during one of the most significant religious gatherings in the world. By increasing staff and resources, the government aims to provide a seamless and secure experience for every pilgrim.
