PMDC Clarifies MDCAT 2025 Fee Adjustment Amid Public Misunderstanding
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially denied claims of an 80% increase in the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 fee, clarifying that the actual adjustment is a modest 12.5%.
What’s the Real Fee Change?
In a formal statement, PMDC confirmed that the MDCAT registration fee has risen from Rs. 8,000 in 2024 to Rs. 9,000 in 2025, marking a Rs. 1,000 increase. The council emphasized that this change reflects a gradual adjustment over the years, not the dramatic hike reported in some media outlets.
Why the Fee Was Adjusted
The fee revision was made at the request of the universities administering the exam, not PMDC itself. These institutions cited rising operational costs, including:
- Printing and logistics
- Enhanced security protocols
- Compensation for invigilators and staff
- Facility upgrades for national and international test centers
Despite inflationary pressures, PMDC reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the exam affordable while maintaining high standards and transparency.
MDCAT 2025: Standardized and Inclusive
PMDC also clarified its role in developing a standardized syllabus and question bank in collaboration with stakeholders from all provinces. The exam will be conducted by designated universities, including:
- University of Health Sciences, Lahore
- Sukkur IBA University
- Khyber Medical University, Peshawar
- Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta
- Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad (including ICT, AJK, GB, and Riyadh international venue)
The MDCAT is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2025, with registration currently underway.
