Punjab Unveils Centralized Health Monitoring System to Accelerate Reforms

In a major step toward healthcare modernization, the Punjab Department of Health and Population has launched a centralized monitoring and evaluation system to oversee development projects across the province. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of delivering quality healthcare at citizens’ doorsteps.

Oversight and Accountability

The newly strengthened Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate will track project implementation, assess performance, and ensure alignment with provincial health priorities. All vertical programs are now required to submit annual performance reports, reinforcing a culture of transparency and results-driven governance.

Infrastructure and Emergency Care

To bolster emergency services, the government approved 13 new oxygen feeders for 145 DHQ and THQ hospitals, enabling the distribution of over 44,000 oxygen cylinders monthly. This move is expected to significantly enhance critical care capacity across Punjab.

Community Health Inspector Program

The province is rolling out the Community Health Inspector Program in two phases. Over 530,000 households have already been geo-tagged, with data verification underway to improve field-level accountability and service delivery.
