National Action Plan for Health Security Discussed: Punjab Aims to Enhance Health Care Coordination and Services

A high-level meeting took place in Lahore, where a delegation led by the CEO of the National Institute of Health (NIH) discussed the National Action Plan for Health Security with Punjab’s Provincial Health Minister, Khawaja Salman Rafique. The delegation, which included prominent health officials such as CEO Dr. Muhammad Salman, Health Advisor Dr. Safi Malik, and health experts Dr. Aqil, Wahaj, and Afifah, explored ways to enhance collaboration between the federal government and Punjab province to advance the healthcare sector.

During the discussion, the delegation provided a comprehensive briefing to Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on the initiatives and potential improvements under the National Action Plan for Health Security. They examined strategies to optimize health services, boost inter-departmental communication, and align health security measures with national standards.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized the value of the delegation’s insights, describing them as instrumental in shaping Punjab’s approach to health security. “The Punjab government is committed to elevating healthcare indicators and ensuring access to quality medical services for the general public,” he said. Highlighting Punjab’s steady progress, Rafique stated, “Alhamdulillah, health security conditions in Punjab are favorable. Inshallah, by adhering to this plan, we aim to fully realize the benefits of the International Health Regulations.”

The minister further added that Punjab’s government is dedicated to strengthening its healthcare infrastructure. With initiatives under the National Action Plan, the province will enhance the capacity of government laboratories, which will be pivotal in achieving improved health outcomes and addressing public health challenges effectively.
