He noted that effective service delivery not only elevates the medical profession but also serves humanity in a meaningful way.

Enhancing Healthcare with Modern Technology

During the visit, Principal Prof. Al-Fareed Zafar shared insights about the advancements being made at the Lahore General Hospital. He revealed that more than Rs. 10 million are spent annually on research at PGMI, ensuring that patients receive cutting-edge treatments. He also highlighted the success of Laparoscopy techniques in Gynecology, Surgery, and other fields, which allow patients to recover quickly without extended hospital stays.

Dr. Kayani commended Prof. Zafar’s efforts in adopting modern technology like Laparoscopy, which has greatly improved patient care at LGH. He emphasized the importance of integrating new technologies and methods to deliver better healthcare services across Punjab’s hospitals.

Expanding Nursing Education in Punjab

To address the growing demand for trained healthcare professionals, Dr. Kayani assured attendees that he would recommend increasing the seats at the Nursing College at Lahore General Hospital from 200 to 300. This expansion aims to provide more opportunities for aspiring nurses and ensure that the healthcare system is well-equipped with skilled professionals.

Improving Patient Referral Systems

Dr. Kayani also discussed the importance of refining the referral system for patient transfers from district hospitals to teaching hospitals. By ensuring a well-organized monitoring and auditing process, he hopes to eliminate any difficulties patients may face when seeking advanced medical care.

The Health Advisor emphasized that these steps are part of an integrated strategy to optimize resource use and improve patient care. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all hospitals in Punjab provide high-quality services and cater to the medical needs of the population effectively.
