KARACHI: Tauqeer Ul Haq has been elected as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) for the 2024-26 term. Alongside him, Shafiq Ahmed Abbasi has been chosen as the Senior Vice-Chairman, while Aman Ullah Sheikh has been elected as the Vice-Chairman, according to a press release issued by the PPMA.
New Leadership
The newly elected members of the PPMA’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) represent both the South and North zones of Pakistan. From the South, the new CEC members include Tauqeer Ul Haq, Saboor Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah Essa, Shahid Ghoury, Shamim Ahmed, Adnan Hirani, Dr. Ali Afzal, Najeeb Ur Rehman, Mutti Ur Rehman, Ather Nazir Shaikh, Javed Ghulam Mohammad, Kamran Nasir, and Dr. Laila Mughal.
From the North, the elected CEC members are Shafiq Ahmed Abbasi, Aman Ullah Sheikh, Dr. Tahir Azam, Osman Khalid Waheed, Ehtisham Ul Haq, Ansar Farooq Chaudhry, Zafar Mustafa Jaija, Hamid Mohammad Zaka, Irum Naila, Tahir Idrees, Chaudhry Bilal Munawar, and Iftikhar Hussain Abbasi.
Commitment to the Industry
In his message, Tauqeer Ul Haq expressed his dedication to addressing the key issues facing Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry, especially in the areas of regulatory challenges and pricing. He emphasized his goal to work closely with federal, provincial, and state authorities to enhance the productivity of local drug producers and significantly boost pharmaceutical exports, benefiting the national economy.
Tauqeer Ul Haq also expressed gratitude to the outgoing PPMA Chairman, Mian Khalid Misbah Ur Rehman, and the previous office bearers for their efforts in resolving the pressing challenges faced by the industry.
