LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore, marking a significant step toward improving cancer treatment and care across the province.
“We are fully committed to providing free and high-quality treatment to every cancer patient,” said Maryam Nawaz. “A specialized cancer treatment center will be set up in every district of Punjab to ensure accessible care for all.”
In addition to this initiative, the Punjab Cabinet, under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, approved several key projects during its 15th provincial cabinet meeting. Among the approved programs are the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing scheme, the Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Program, and the Children’s Heart Surgery Program.
One of the standout initiatives is the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” scheme, which allows for the first time in Pakistan, housing loans to be granted based on ownership papers and a copy of the borrower’s identity card. Loans of up to 1.5 million rupees will be offered, with monthly repayments of just 14,000 rupees over nine years. The loan program has been converted into a revolving fund, ensuring no additional costs for the public.
The Punjab government also approved the construction of 500,000 homes over the next five years. Each housing unit will follow a uniform front design, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed ministers to personally oversee the distribution of the first loan installments, ensuring smooth implementation of the housing scheme.
